Rep Fitness Power Racks

Without only a few, hard to notice, differences, choosing between the Rep Fitness PR-5000 and PR-4000 Power Rack can be a nerve-racking choice.  Especially considering, each of these power racks should last you a lifetime, making the right selection is that much more critical.  I put together this content to help you make the best decision based on your budget, lifting expectations, use case, and more.

Differences

At quick glance, the differences are hard to pinpoint, but they do exist.  The obvious being the PR-5000 power rack has a much larger and prominent name plate in the rear.  Aside from ascetics, this will also offer better stabilization of the rack itself.  The PR-5000 also has larger, 1 inch hardware, also adding to increased overall stabilization.  The PR5000 also has every laser cut hole numbered, where the Rep Fitness PR-4000 is only numbered every five.  Hole Spacing is identical at two inches until you come into the “bench press region” where the PR4000 has one inch hole spacing to allow for a more “perfect” benching alignment.  (Rep Fitness sells attachment that will covert 2 inch holes down to 1 inch spacing).  For the PR-5000’s improvements over the PR4000, it does come at an increase cost.  The cost difference starts at $100 but does increase when attachments are factored in.

Similarities

While the power rack differences stand out, there are far more similarities with their rack heights, depths, steel gage, footprint, color options, and attachments all being the same.  Even the maximum load (1000 lbs) is the same for each.

Final Thoughts

Both the PR5000 and PR4000 power racks make great options for a home gym and will deliver a lifetime of use. Both are over-designed for most individuals needs.  If price isn’t an issue, then go for the PR5000 and be done with it, the beefier hardware, bigger rear logo, and laser cut numbers make the price increase well worth it.  If you are looking to maximize value, consider the PR-4000, all the major benefits of a great power rack without the lower initial sticker (and attachment) price.

About Me

Being a great dad is a full-time job and often we lose sight of our own personal goals in the process.   I’ve been chronically my journey to be the best father to my children but STILL accomplish my own personal objectives.  Step inside this odyssey, where nothing is saved for the trip back.  I’m attempting to raise Thing 1 and Thing 2, keep my home from being a complete disaster area, and complete a semblance of the objectives I had earlier in life…..
